Australian Honey Ventures sets out to raise $1 million to pioneer innovation in holistic medicine

Australian Honey Ventures (AHV) has announced its latest crowdfunding capital raise round, with the aim to raise $1 million to pioneer innovation in FemTech, along with other therapeutic medicinal honey treatments.

The latest capital raise comes after AHV smashed the milestones the company set out to achieve back in 2021 and 2022, which collectively raised $2.17 million. The company now stocks its Real Good Honey table honey range across all Woolworths stores and select IGA stores in Western Australia, and has scaled its high-return Real Good Honey medicinal range across international markets including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates.

Testament to its mission to lift the value and perception of Australian honey through medical innovation, AHV is now turning its focus to the skin microbiome. The funds from the capital raise will be used to pioneer two new research trials for treatment of bacterial vaginosis, thrush and tinea, which aim to validate the use case of medicinal honey and provide a pathway to mass-production of therapeutic medicinal honey solutions.

 

Jay Curtin, CEO of Australian Honey Ventures, said that the emerging antibiotic resistance crisis prompted the research into the wider benefits of medicinal honey, which the company sees as an untapped market for exponential growth.

“We’ve always known that certain Western Australian honeys have unarguably high levels of hydrogen peroxide, which is unheard of anywhere else in the world. This opens up the opportunity to use this honey for bacterial and fungal health conditions — including the treatment of infections.

“With an emerging antibiotic resistance crisis set to become a leading cause of death globally by 2050, we’re now on a mission to leverage the powerful properties of Western Australian honey and source new ways to treat long-term common infections.”

“We are specifically targeting vaginal health as it is something that affects half the world’s population – over 4 billion people have a vagina. This presents a massively addressable, yet unsaturated market for us to support and as a female CEO I want to put women’s health squarely on the global map,” said Curtin.
